How to Determine your SR-22 Type in NH

January 24, 2009 Leave a comment

Where to start with your SR-22

An SR-22 is the State’s way of knowing that you have insurance by keeping in contact with your insurance company. There are two different kinds of SR-22s in the State of New Hampshire: Operator only, and Owner/operator. So which one do you choose?

“Operator Only” SR-22s in NH

An operator only SR-22 for the state of New Hampshire allows individuals that do not own any motor vehicles to obtain their license. The acquired insurance policy provides liability coverage for all non owned vehicles. There is however, no coverage allowed for physical damage to the non owned vehicle being operated under the SR-22.

Owner/Operator SR-22s in NH

An owner/operator SR-22 for NH on the other hand requires that all vehicles owned and/or operated by you, (the insured), must have at least state minimum liability coverage, (25/50/25). The SR-22 is not specific to the vehicle or vehicles that are protected under the insurance policy but instead to the insured. It is the responsibility of the individual to promptly notify Counterpoint Insurance of any changes of vehicles and drivers

What else should you know?

If you require an SR-22 in NH but do not have an owner/operator SR-22, the State of NH will suspend your ability to register any motor vehicle until such coverage is acquired.
